A Matter of Air
“A Matter of Air” is an installation offering a live experience of the New York Community Air Survey’s air pollution data across NYC’s five boroughs.
The installation visualizes 12 years of fine particulate matter as space-time cubes for 42 neighborhoods. Each of the 42 LED strings represents a neighborhood’s data, with each LED showing an annual data point. Colors indicate trends: red for hotspots (trending up), blue for cold spots (trending down).
An interactive panel provides more details on each dataset, allowing the audience to display specific data by pressing buttons.
Presented at DataXDesign 2023 and Creative Mornings. Longlisted for the Information is Beautiful Awards.
